As Tom Nook continues to help count down Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ release, we’ve seen daily tweets, pictures, and videos showing off what awaits us next week. Today’s tidbit touches upon a feature that was first noted at PAX East, where Nintendo made a demo version of the game public for the first time.
At PAX, the character customization menu revealed a new “Face Paint” option. Those able to test out the feature on the show floor were limited to whatever custom designs that were loaded onto the demo. It wasn’t perfect, but we were able to see that we’ll have the ability to add designs to our character’s cheeks and forehead.
Luckily, Mr. Nook isn’t going to make us wait another week to see in-game screenshots of the option. Today’s information is all about this new feature!

With the Custom Designs app, you can use a 32 by 32 grid & 16 colors to create your own designs. Display them on the ground, wear them, or use them in other ways to let your personality shine! For example, check out these custom designs as face-paint patterns! pic.twitter.com/ELYAmKsdRo— Tom Nook (@animalcrossing) March 12, 2020
A bag of bells, Animal Crossing’s iconic furniture leaf icon, and looking like a member of the Squid Research Lab? Our designs are only limited by our imagination!
