Leave it to the massive roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate to put together an unexpected yet totally valid theme like this. It’s been announced that the next online event tourney for the game will pit the prickly against the roly-poly in terms of both fighters and items.

Front and center for these two camps are Bowser and Kirby, with the contoured combatants being fairly easy to predict. Pac-Man, Jigglypuff, and Meta Knight all fit the required, spherical mold well but it’s their jagged rivals that raise some eyebrows. I mean, yeah, I’m not about to hug Ridley but it looks like Cloud’s hair has him beat when it comes to punctures.
And Sonic? Well he could fit in both camp easily all things considered, but Mr. Needlemouse has made his choice. As mentioned, items will also be limited to these two camps, with Poké Balls and Blue Shells set to fly. Whichever texture you prefer, you can fight it out in this online Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event starting March 6th.
