In celebration of Pokemon Day and the Netflix release of Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, Pokemon Sword and Shield have decided to bring on a new batch of Max Raid Battles. At the forefront is Mewtwo itself, and it’s set to be one of the most difficult challenges a trainer can face in the game.
Unlock more typical Max Raids, this Mewtwo will never let its card down and cannot be captured by trainers. While that might turn some off from calling up some friends and taking it on, there are rare and valuable rewards for anyone able to take it down – including Ability Capsules.
Mewtwo has entered the Wild Area! You might go toe-to-toe with Dynamax Mewtwo in a Max Raid Battle until 3:59 a.m. PST on March 1. While you can’t catch Mewtwo, defeating it will provide rare rewards to Trainers up to the task! pic.twitter.com/wEqv2GHzhf

It’s not the only new Raid though, as all the Kanto starters and their first evolutions will be present. That means you have a chance to face off with Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, Charmander, Charmeleon, Squirtle, and Wartortle for a limited time. Just be sure you’re on the latest update for Wild Area News, and you can encounter them all from now til March 1st.
