One of the more infamous cancelled games out there is Starcraft: Ghost — an ostensible third-person shooter in development in the early ’00s. And now a playable iteration of the Xbox version has leaked online, as discovered by several YouTube users.

While not a clean build of the game (it only includes the first two levels, which are broken and don’t quite work properly), you do see how the game looks in action: it looks like it was a pretty standard early ’00s shooter, with environmental exploration, upgrades, and some MGS-style chatting.

While Blizzard would eventually jump into the shooter scene properly with Overwatch, it’s fascinating to catch a glimpse of what might have been a solid GameCube shooter back in the day.
