In a recent interview posted to the official Mana Series Twitter page, Trials of Mana producers have shared their thoughts on what makes the latest entry, and remake, so special.

Overall, both Masaru Oyamada, a Mana Series producer, and Shinichi Tatsuke, a Trials of Mana producer, agree that “the Mana Series itself is a rare example of one [JRPG] with an Asian taste,” which is different than your standard western-fantasy styled Japanese RPGs.

“I think that makes it stand out among JRPGs as something really unique and appealing,” said Masaru Oyamada. He also cites music as a critical component of the Asian flair seen throughout the game.

For those unaware, Trials of Mana is the 3D-remake of the 1995 JRPG Seiken Densetsu 3. Developed by Square Enix, the game will be available worldwide for Nintendo Switch on April 24th, 2020
