The Nintendo Switch release of the Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath high-definition remaster has received a release date during today’s Indie World Showcase live stream: January 2020.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is an action-adventure game that stars the “Stranger,” a “tall, dark and enigmatic bounty hunter with a mission to capture troublemakers and scoundrels and return them to civilized townships for incarceration.

While venturing Mongrel Valley, the Stranger wields a crossbow complete with live ammunition in the form of small, bizarre creatures with differing effects.

The Switch version of the game boasts new features like “updated FPS controls” and gyroscopic aiming.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath was first released in 2005 exclusively for Xbox to a highly-positive reception.

Years later, the game was remastered in HD for PC and PlayStation 3 in 2010, the PlayStation Vita in 2012, iOS and Android in 2014, and the Ouya in 2015.

An HD version for the Wii U was announced in 2013, but the port was ultimately put on an indefinite hold in 2015.
