There’s nothing quite as cool as Japanese mechs – something the recently released Daemon X Machina knows all too well, with its array of customizable giant “Arsenal” robot suits allowing for the ultimate escapist fantasy of blowin’ up robots with style.

These mecha were designed by Shōji Kawamori, who has a variety of classic mecha designs under his belt, with one of the most memorable being Nirvash from the 2005 anime series Eureka Seven. Developer Marvelous is now taking advantage of that connection by officially announcing a cross-over between the two franchises.

Free DLC is set to be released today, November 14th, that’ll let you pilot a Nirvash-themed Arsenal and dress up as the protagonist Renton Thurson.

Two more planned collaboration DLC’s are yet to come, and given Kawamori’s history with mecha covers everything from Macross to Ghost in the Shell, there are plenty of possibilities.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
