Dragon Quest XI S is a pretty remarkable release of Square Enix’s massive adventure, making it a game worth exploring in many respects. The folks over at Digital Foundry recently did a breakdown of the Switch version’s performance compared to the PlayStation 4 original. They call the port “brilliant” and “clever” in its execution — you can see all the side-by-side comparisons and discussion in the full video:

 

 
Square Enix did a marvelous job transferring the huge, technically demanding world from the PS4 to Nintendo’s hybrid device, which is probably why it came out over a year after the original release in North America.
