The announcement of The Lion King and Aladdin receiving the Nintendo Switch treatment was met with excitement from those who enjoyed the titles in the ’90s. Creative production company iam8bit is taking it one step further by giving the fans even more retro love with two new products for collections. Limited editions of both The Lion King and Aladdin will be available in cartridge form in the very, very near future, with both having been added to the company’s Legacy Cartridge Collection.
The Lion King – Legacy Cartridge Collection is made specifically for the SNES, sporting the gorgeous 16-bit artwork through two cartridge color varieties. The 4,500 copies are comprised of both Opaque Mufasa Marigold and the Ultra Limited Translucent Serengeti Sunrise Glow-in-the-Dark cartridges. The latter is the rarer of the two, giving those who purchase the edition 1 in 8 odds to receive the translucent cart. Keep in mind that the colorway version you receive is completely random.

The 16-bit retro goodness doesn’t stop there either, as Aladdin – Legacy Cartridge Collection is also on the way! This title is getting just 4,500 copies and is instead receiving some Genesis love — the cart is designed to be compatible with NTSC Genesis and EU Mega Drive retro consoles.
The cartridge colorways for Aladdin include Translucent Ruby Red and Rare Purple Gem Glow-in-the-Dark. As with The Lion King, the second of the two — the GID cart — is extra rare and only 1 in 8 purchasers will get it. Again, the two variants are packaged up and are sent out in a completely random manner.
