Over the weekend Kadokawa Games announced that their smash-hit visual novel Root Letter would be getting a sequel in Japan – Root Film. Now PQube has announced that it’ll be bringing the game to North America and Europe with a freshly localized announcement trailer. Give it a watch:

The game follows a group of aspiring film-makers as they set out to reboot a documentary series that was mysteriously cancelled ten years ago. Soon enough they’re contending with a mysterious murder, and to solve it you’ll be able to use a variety of mechanics.

“Intuition” will pick out key words and phrases that’ll be integral to the investigation, which you can then use in “Max Mode”, where evidence can help you uncover the truth. Finally there’s the “Zapping” system which lets you view the story from multiple perspectives.

A western release window has yet to be confirmed, but the game will launch in Japan sometime during Spring 2020.
