A recent phenomenon in the PC gaming space is the “Auto Chess” genre. What initially started as a Dota 2 mod released in early 2019 soon became its own game, ran by the developers over at Drodo Soft, titled simply “Auto Chess”. The game has since made its way to the Epic Game Store, Android, and iOS, and spawned many copycats, but it’ll soon be heading to consoles, too.

As reported by Gematsu, the announcement was made during a fan meetup in Japan, where the CEO of publisher Dragonest confirmed that the game will hit the Nintendo Switch and PS4 in 2020 to expand its audience within the region.

Other updates planned include Japanese voice over, alongside the already-included Chinese and English, a four-versus-four mode, and more.

We’ll just have to wait and see how well the phenomenon performs on consoles next year.
