Tri-Ace’s classic sci-fi RPG Star Ocean is heading to the Nintendo Switch in Japan this December, it’s been confirmed. The information comes via a new press release and trailer, which also unveil new details regarding the game.

As translated by HDKirin, we now know the Japanese release will have two voice tracks – the original recordings from the original PSP remake on which First Departure R is based, and some new recordings made by the voice cast of the original Super Famicom release.

There’ll also be a speed boost feature to quicken overworld map traversal, difficulty adjustments, and the previously announced ability to switch between the PSP character artwork and the new illustrations provided by Katsumi Enami.

The Japanese version of Star Ocean: First Departure R launches on December 5, 2019. A western release has previously been confirmed by Square Enix.
