In just over a month, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition will finally launch for the Nintendo Switch. As part of Gamescom, Nintendo of Europe has released a massive 35 minute long video spotlighting the game alongside series creator Yuji Horii and producer Hokuto Okamoto. In it, we see a variety of locations, get a glimpse of the 2D gameplay mode, and briefly journey to past Dragon Quest worlds.

Not only that but the video concludes with the confirmation that a demo is now available via the Switch eShop, with potentially over 10 hours of content! Then you can transfer your save data over once Dragon Quest XI S launches on September 27th.

Finally, if you have save data from either the demo or the full game, you can unlock a Tockle spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. That’s a lot of Dragon Quest goodness in one day!

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
