The latest Samurai Shodown may’ve been the youngest game at this year’s Evo, but it fit right in with all the rest of the titles. With a strong tournament showing from entrants, it’s only natural the dev team return the favor on this global stage with an announcement or two. As such, SNK debuted an all-new trailer featuring the upcoming, previously announced DLC characters, as well as a couple surprises:

Rimururu, Basara, Kazuki Kazama, and Wan-Fu all got a chance to show what they’re bringing to the fight. Joining them was the previously unmentioned Shizumaru Hisame as a free bonus character for all players. Likewise, a second season of DLC for 2020 was announced, headlined by Dengeki Online popularity poll winner Mina Makijina.

Granted, these dates and timing only currently apply for the released console versions of the game. With the Nintendo Switch release due out this winter, there may be some differences in how they handle the DLC roster. That said, the entire first season was previously 100% free by design, so it’s likely that good will will extend to the upcoming Nintendo platform release.

Be on the lookout for more information on these characters and all things Samurai Shodown in the coming months.
