New Pokémon, Gigantamaxing, more shown in new 'Sword,' 'Shield' trailer | Nintendo Wire

A new trailer for upcoming Nintendo Switch games Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Sword has dropped, showing off several new Pokémon, some new characters (including Gym Leaders), and the “Gigantamaxing” mechanic.

The English trailer, called “Gigantamaxing Changes the Game in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield,” runs at just over two minutes.

New Pokémon

Four Pokémon were officially revealed in the trailer: Yamper (previously known through the Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield demo at events like E3 2019), Alcremie, Rolycoly, and Duraludon.

Yamper is an Electric-type with the Ability Ball Fetch, Alcremie is a Fairy-type with the Ability Sweet Veil, Rolycoly is a Rock-type with the Abilities Steam Engine and Heatproof, and Duraludon is a Steel/Dragon-type with the Abilities Light Metal and Heavy Metal.

New characters

Four new characters were also introduced: Oleana, Bea, Allister, and Chairman Rose.

Bea and Allister are Gym Leaders, although they’re both version exclusives: Bea, a Fighting-type Leader, is exclusive to Pokémon Sword, while Ghost-type Leader Allister is exclusive to Pokémon Shield.

Gigantamaxing

Biggest (pun intended) of all is the new “Gigantamax” feature which changes a Pokémon’s size and appearance.

Drednaw and new Pokémon Alcremie appear in the trailer in their super-sized Gigantamax forms with brand-new looks.

According to Serebii.net, Gigantamaxing boosts power upon Dynamaxing and every Gigantamax also has a “G-Max Move.”

Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are set to release worldwide on Friday, November 15th, 2019.
