2D actions fans on Switch have a new day to look forward to, as the previously announced Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX now has a release date. Inti Creates shared the news today at BitSummit in Kyoto, Japan during a presentation that detailed not just the date but also ran through the game’s story and systems.

The game takes place in the same world, where some are born with unique powers (“Septima”) and known as Adepts. Staring this one will be Copen, rival character to the titular Azure Striker, who’s taking on the powerful Sumeragi Corporation as they attempt to purge those without Septima, known as Minos. Existing as a defender of the Minos, Copen is also looking for something known as the Butterfly Effect as he fights alongside his allies both familiar and new.

His playstyle looks to be a slightly updated version of his previous abilities from Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. Key to this will be the Bullit Dash, which lets him rocket off of surfaces and enemies to target them and lay into them with attacks. He’ll also be able to copy the Septima of his enemies thanks to his AI partner Lola’s EX Weapon System.

Look forward to more information on Luminous Avenger iX as we head towards its September 26th for Nintendo Switch and other platforms.
