The Trine series is something of an indie staple at this point, with Frozenbyte bringing the puzzle-platformer trilogy to seemingly every modern platform. Just a few weeks ago Trine 2 hit the Nintendo Switch, a few months after the original, and now the fourth game has been confirmed for a release this fall on the system.

From the trailer it looks like Trine 4 will be returning to focus on the side-scrolling co-operative puzzle solving of the first two, after the third took the franchise in a more ambitious direction, which resulted in a more expensive and shorter game.

Hopefully we’ll learn more about Trine 4, and get a release date for Trine 3, over the coming months.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
