Last week we got confirmation that the Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster and Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age would be releasing on Switch this April, and now we know who’ll be doing the ports. Chinese studio Virtuos, which previously brought the likes of Dark Souls, L.A. Noire, and Starlink to Switch, will be handling the job.

While Virtuos has a spotty reputation in certain circles, with some feeling their ports of games like Assassin’s Creed 2 and Return to Arkham missed the mark. That said, most generally agree their work originally updating the PS2 Final Fantasy games was a cut above, so it’s a good sign they’re returning for the Switch versions. Some fans will still likely hold a grudge against the changed face models in Final Fantasy X, however.

Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will launch April 16th on Switch, while Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is set for April 30th.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
