I almost can’t believe Celeste is about to be one year old, but here we are with its birthday about two weeks away. Matt Thorson, the game’s designer, director, and writer; has already made it known the game was set to get an extra DLC chapter and today a few further details have been provided via Twitter:

For one, the DLC sadly won’t make it in time for the game’s anniversary. There also won’t be a set of B-Side stages for it either, though this continuous chapter is said to be even more difficult than the currently hardest levels, balancing that issue out well enough. There’ll also be no strawberries to collect (sorry pie enthusiasts) but there will be new items and mechanics when it comes to the platforming.

The best news of all though is that this is going to be free for all platforms. So if you’ve taken to the mountain on Switch or otherwise, you’ll be set to scale these upcoming stages once they arrive in the future. That means some time to practice up and really put your heart into the game, which we still more than recommended about a whole year later.
