Compared to the blowout bonanza that was the first year of the Switch, 2018 has been relatively quiet by comparison. All of the proverbial eggs have been placed in Smash Ultimate’s basket, with other announced titles like Yoshi’s Crafted World taking a backseat, and others like Bayonetta 3 not even being mentioned for a whole year. But as far as “big titles that we know exist” go, there’s nothing grander right now than Metroid Prime 4 — announced at E3 2017 and with nary a word since. Now it was in the earliest vestiges of development at the time, so the silence has been justified… but isn’t it about time we heard something about it?

Well, according to a couple semi-dubious sources, Metroid Prime Trilogy is going to be announced at The Game Awards 2018 tomorrow. The Trilogy being on Switch makes a lot of sense — Joy-Cons would allow for the great motion controls on the Wii and the classic GameCube button layout simultaneously, and it would generate interest for those who had never experienced the originals before Prime 4. So there’s a very real possibility that the Trilogy on Switch is going to be a thing. But will Prime 4 itself make an appearance? I can say with utmost confidence that I have no idea. But it’d be rad if it did.

Do you think we’ll be getting some Metroid content tomorrow at The Game Awards? Let us know in the comments.
