With The Game Awards just around the corner, airing on Thursday night out of Los Angeles, it’s an exciting time to be a gamer, but it’s worth staying skeptical when purported leaks start flying around.
On the heels of the somewhat convincing retail leaks from Media Markt, which suggested we could be seeing an Assassin’s Creed Compilation on Switch soon, numerous tweets and images have been popping up with some other hype-inducing “leaks.” Unfortunately, for the most part, these seem to be mocked up or retailers playing casual pranks.
For starters, we have this listing for The Last Story 2.

It’s a deep pull to be sure, and the logo is unique, but as Direct-Feed Games states, the listing isn’t popping up anymore, unlike the Assassin’s Creed Compilation which has simply gotten an abbreviated title and is still live.
Another example is this Metroid Prime Trilogy listing from a Swedish website.
Swedish Retailer Inet has listed Metroid Prime Trilogy for Switch, meaning this could be shown off at TGA after all along with Prime 4.

This one admits it’s a rumor in the description, and that the retailer simply expects it to be announced at The Game Awards. While it’s possible they have inside knowledge, it’s always best to avoid deflated expectations!
Chances are we’ll see even more rumors and leaks in the lead-up to The Game Awards, but here’s hoping the real announcements still find a way to blow us out of the water!
