As one of the new universes represented in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon’s in a prime position to bring on plenty of fresh music to the scene. We’ve already gotten one in the form of Bomb Rush Blush, a solo piece from (the best) Squid Sister Callie. This week though it’s Squid Squad getting an arrangement of one of the first game’s match themes, Seaskape.

As much as I love Splatoon’s host of in game bands and musicians, the mind behind this mix is one of Nintendo’s best. Hirokazu “Hip” Tanaka has played an instrumental role in the music of Mother, Metroid, Kid Icarus, and many many more. His take on Splatoon’s soundtrack brings an all new vibe to a track I’ve heard plenty of times over, making it new again and keeping the hype alive on the way to December 7th.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
