While the game may have been delayed ’til May 2019, Team Sonic Racing is still what’s next for Sega’s mascot outside of his oncoming Smash Bros. return. In the spirit of the season, a new music track has been released that points to a brand new race track in the upcoming game called “Boo’s House.” No relation to Mario & Luigi’s ghostly enemy, this one’s looking to pull from the pyramid stages from the likes of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic Adventure 2 (with hopefully a dash of “Pumpkin Hill”).

The song’s got plenty of eerie vibes and some violin front and center, but most notable is that this marks a collab between longtime Sonic series composer and Crush 40 guitarist Jun Senoue, and Sonic Mania’s composer Tee Lopes. Hopefully we’ll be seeing plenty more of both of them in the game’s music once Team Sonic Racing finally comes along.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
