Oh, Pocky. In my experiences this is one of the Japanese snacks a lot of people in America are introduced to first. Fairly available and different enough from anything we have here, there’s a certain novelty to this chocolate covered biscuit sticks. They even have their own day drummed up to spark sales, that being November 11th. This year it’s not just about sharing your favorite kind with friends though. Thanks to Splatoon 2, it’s time to make a mess and show what’s best in an upcoming Splatfest.

The two sides here aren’t different flavors, but rather sizes. On one end we’ve got the standard chocolate, while on the other it’s a super thin variety. Sure you get about the same amount of snack, but now it’s a question of having more (smaller) sticks or fewer, larger ones with more crunch and more chocolate. If squids can wage war over whether they like mushroom or bamboo shaped treats more, then this is just another stroll through the Square.
