When it comes to first stages in video games, Green Hill Zone is about on the level as Super Mario Bros. 1-1 and has followed Sonic the Hedgehog to several appearances. It’s been done again and again, but it’s still expected and the most fitting representation of the character and series. Seeing this one in Brawl blew everyone’s mind, so have a blast from two kinds of pasts with its inclusion in the Smash Blog.
The iconic Green Hill Zone stage from Sonic the Hedgehog returns in Super #SmashBrosUltimate! The concave landscape and blue Point Marker are key elements of the stage. The marker can hit fighters that get too close, and the ground can collapse if you attack it, so be careful! pic.twitter.com/Ar8AiZ5I15

It’ll be interesting to see how the line up of Sonic’s friends that run through the background changes now that Knuckles is an Assist Trophy. Other than that it’s business as usual with collapsing floors and that dang checkpoint marker turning up again (of all places) to knock you around.
