Late last year, Capcom ported the 3DS’s Monster Hunter Stories to smartphones in Japan. Now, that port has finally launched on the North American App Store and Google Play for $19.99, letting western players experience the game in a new way. There’s also free demo, also available via the App Store and Google Play, which lets you play the opening parts of the game and transfer your save if you buy the full version.

We quite liked Monster Hunter Stories when it first launched on 3DS and this mobile port has a few bonus features, like an auto-save. It also runs in a much higher resolution, which makes the crisp cel-shaded graphics shine. Check it out in the video below:

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
