Rool stomped aboard this game he brought along his original theme music, the equally jaunty and sinister “Gangplank Galleon.” We even got to hear it again in his debut. But that? That was just the faintest hint of what this baby could be:

 

 
That right there? That is a tasty jam. High tempo, carried by that infectious horn line and sweet backbeat? Sure, that’s great and all. But then the lyrics kick in and now you know. You in Donkey Kong Country, baby.

That backing chorus in the breakdown, like a Krew of Kremlings cheering on their King, absolutely seals the deal on this arrangement, courtesy of ACE. The duo of TOMOri Kudo and CHiCO are best known to Nintendo fans for their work on the Xeno series, and that style and experience brought into this SNES classic, are exactly why Smash is the gift that keeps on giving.
