Welcome to Speedrun Sunday: that sadistic time of the week when we dare to challenge both your D-pad’s durability and sanity’s stamina with the ultimate test in video game bragging rights.
Hot off the tainted tentacles of our Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion challenge comes another ruthless run that’ll leave you spun out and in a frenzy for fungi. That’s right, fans of deep drifts and Blue Shelled gifts: We’re shifting into gear for another lap around one of Mario Kart 8’s many deluxe tracks!
THE CHALLENGE
Who can get the fastest time trial in 150cc Toad’s Turnpike as either Toad or Toadette?
Our claim to fame is 2:00.342, which shouldn’t be too hard to beat for the most manic of mushrooms among you. The fungi with the fastest time by 12:00 a.m. PT will win a $10 eShop card (North America), along with the illustrious title Trailblazer of the Turnpike.
THE RULES
- All participants must play as either Toad or Toadette. No other characters will be permitted.
- Feel free to drive whichever custom kart and parts you like. Whatever helps you get the fastest time is fair game!
- All submissions must be made using the Switch’s 30 second video capture feature showing your total time upon crossing the finish line. No snapshots necessary.
- In the instance of a tie, we’ll settle things in Smash live later during the week using various level 50 amiibo representing the winners.
- Feel free to improve upon and submit new scores as many times as you like.
- Switch version only.
