During the hands-on time I had with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate I was trying to grab as many Assist Trophies and Poké Balls as possible, just waiting to see who’d pop out. I’m happy to say that my first new Pokémon was Alolan Raichu, easily one of the best additions to Sun & Moon’s collection of Kanto alternatives.

When it appears, Alolan Raichu will start surfing along the ground with its tail and taking any enemies it hits along for the ride. It works somewhat like how the past Pokémon Piplup and Oshawott did, but with a tropical flair that makes its warm pancake presence all the more welcome.

Be on the lookout for more Pokémon coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the coming months of reveals.
