Back in June we wrote an article about how LeBron James will be the cover athlete for NBA 2K19’s 20th Anniversary Edition. It was announced on Monday that another NBA star will be sharing the spotlight with LeBron James. Giannis Antetokounmpo, of the Milwaukee Bucks, will be the cover athlete for the standard edition of NBA 2K19. Those who purchase the standard edition of the game will receive this cover:

Antetokounmpo had this to say about being featured as a cover athlete:
“I am honored to be the first international player featured on the cover of NBA 2K19. I love playing NBA 2K so this means a lot to me. I have worked hard to earn recognition in the NBA and being on the cover of NBA 2K19 is a dream come true.”
It’s a pretty inspiring story for Antetokounmpo, as a person who started out as a fan of the series and then ended up on the front cover of the game. I think that’s probably any gamer’s dream, although I don’t think any of us will appear on the front cover of the next Mario game anytime soon.
NBA 2K19 will launch September 11th, 2018 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, and Xbox One.
