Topping the list of games I’ll probably import, Taiko no Tatsujin Switch Version (aka Taiko Drum Master Switch) now has a confirmed release date. That’s not the only new thing shown off here though, so let’s cue the music and take a look:

We knew Splatoon 2 music and Jump Up, Super Star! would be on the song list but another Nintendo star is on the way too! Kirby’s in the game, both via a Kirby Medley music track and as a special playable character. A pink Splatoon squid will also be a usable avatar, dancing along as you drum to the beat.

The other most notable thing shown in the trailer is the special Taiko controller also being offered alongside the game. Featuring all the buttons you’d find on a pair of Joy-Con (sorry sticks), the wired drum controller is here for both drum master purists and those after the next great speed run challenge.

You can play along with Taiko no Tatsujin starting July 19th, due to be easily available via the Switch eShop and import shops like Play-Asia.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
