Super Mario Odyssey was a game full of memorable moments, with its beginning and end being some of the strongest in any Mario game by far. While you’ll have traveled through the Cap Kingdom and walked the dinosaur in the Cascade Kingdom by the time this particular moment comes along, it absolutely feels, to me, like the true beginning of the game:

Seeing all the of the work that goes into this quick clip is really humbling, especially with how big the entirety of the game is. Still, the Odyssey’s first flight is worth it. The way it breaks out of the earth, still rusty and forgotten ’til Mario and Cappy claim it as their own, feels uplifting and really sets up just how far flung each kingdom really is.
