Being the very active and popular MMORPG that it is, Final Fantasy XIV is no stranger to April Fools gags, but this latest one has plenty to offer fans of retro NES, SNES and PS1 games, too. At the beginning it seems like a typical demake in the style of the original Final Fantasy starring the NPC Magnai, but it soon goes even deeper. Give it a watch:
 

 
Other games referenced include ActRaiser, Secret of Mana, Final Fantasy Tactics, and even more obscure Square Enix classics like Hanjuku Hero and The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner.

Even though a few of those series haven’t seen a new game in a while, it’s nice to see at least one studio at Square Enix remembers ’em!
