To say the Nintendo Switch is doing well is something of an understatement. Ever since it’s launch just over a year ago, the system has broke records left and right, and now, thanks to the latest figures from Famitsu, another Japanese milestone has been breached.

As pointed out by the Game Data Library, the Switch has now sold over 4.037 million units in the region, practically reaching the GameCube’s lifetime 4.04 million sell-through.

The next milestone for the system to breach in Japan is the Nintendo 64, which sold 5.54 million units over its lifespan. Given the current track record, and upcoming major titles like Super Smash Bros. and Pokémon, it seems like a matter of “when”, not “if”. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date!
