The World Video Game Hall of Fame has announced its list of nominees for this year’s inductions. The list includes the original Metroid, along with others. Check out the list:

  • Asteroids
  • Call of Duty
  • Dance Dance Revolution
  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Half-Life
  • John Madden Football
  • King’s Quest
  • Metroid
  • Minecraft
  • Ms. Pac-Man
  • Spacewar!
  • Tomb Raider

The three games with the most votes will be put on one “players’ choice” ballot and will be entered along with ballots from 27 other historians, scholars, and experts in the field. The winners will then join the likes of Super Mario Bros., Tetris, and Pac-Man in the museum.

My personal choice goes to Spacewar!, a game developed in 1962 that was one of the earliest examples of how computers could be used to make games, and because they basically got the best video game title ever in one try.

You have until April 4th to place your vote over for the Player’s Choice Ballot — go vote while you can!
