Splatoon’s got no shortage of bands, though just like the tides sometimes you want to flow into something fresh. One of my favorites from the first game has a new single titled “Blitz It” — and they’re bringing it to an upcoming update to Splatoon 2. Get ready for some sweets riffs and blips: the Chirpy Chips are back!

This chiptune quartet dips into some retro sound banks, mixes ‘em with guitar, and sprinkles on the beat for any squid kid to have their fill. They stand out as one of my favorites for the band members’ designs alone, which you can check out in the new art accompanying the track. We may have already had a sampling of this one during the last Direct’s trailer — and now, knowing it’s Chirpy Chips behind the song has got me even more pumped.
Look forward to Splatoon 2’s Version 3.0 update, coming sometime in April with new gear and stages, a higher Rank X, some appearances from Callie, and of course the new music.
