Today’s Spring Nindies Showcase was full of intriguing titles and fantastic surprises hitting up the Nintendo Switch in the coming months. Though the game that personally got me giddy with glee was the portable system’s next fix in ridiculously addictive roguelikes, Bad North.

In this real-time strategy game, players command an army of loyal bannermen as they gather resources and protect their citizens from an invading Viking horde. Each tiny island is procedurally generated, with positioning of your troops proving key to victory. Despite its charming, minimalistic aesthetic and simple controls, developer Plausible Concept promises surprisingly deep combat mechanics that’s sure to keep players enthralled in its miniature worlds for hours on end.

Bad North is being published by Raw Fury (Kingdom, GoNNER) and set to wash up on Switch shores sometime this summer.
