At the end of last week Kirby brought his unique brand of platforming to the Nintendo Switch with Star Allies, and no doubt many of you reading this have already ventured out across its Dream Land. It turns out plenty of UK gamers have turned out in droves to join in, too, with GameIndustry.biz noting that the game is the fastest selling in the entire franchise across the region.

Star Allies secured the #2 spot on the best selling chart, the highest a Kirby game has ever gotten, beating out the stalwarts that are FIFA 18 and Grand Theft Auto V and only being bested by the remastered version of Burnout Paradise. The previous best selling Kirby games were Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot for the 3DS, which both hit 15th place at their peak.

In total four of the games on the chart are essentially Switch exclusives at this point – Star Allies, Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Here’s hoping the momentum keeps up as we head further into 2018!
