The Super Nintendo and the 3DS are two of my favorite Nintendo systems, so it was a dream come true when I could start building a digital SNES library on a handheld. It’s been a while since those classics started making their way to the eShop to the point we now have a palm sized SNES and the hybrid home-handheld Switch, but it looks like the 3DS just won’t stop.

Japan has released a ranking of the 25 most downloaded Super Famicom games in the 3DS eShop. I’m not at all surprised by the top three, and seeing every Super Famicom Fire Emblem make the cut is perfect. With a few other personal favorites like Kirby’s Dream Course and Panel de Pon making the cut, it’s definitely a list I can respect.

Check it out to see if your favorites gel with Japan:

1. Super Mario World
2. EarthBound
3. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
4. Donkey Kong Country
5. Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War
6.Donkey Kong Country 2
7. Final Fantasy VI
8. Super Mario Kart
9. Live-A-Live
10. Final Fantasy V
11. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
12. Super Metroid
13. Kirby’s Dream Course
14. Donkey Kong Country 3
15. Fire Emblem: Thracia 776
16. Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem
17. F-Zero
18. Romancing SaGa
19. Tactics Ogre
20. Super Street Fighter II
21. Mega Man X
22. Romancing SaGa 2
23. Ganbare Goemon 3
24. Mega Man X2
25. Panel de Pon

More than anything, this list makes me wish some of these old titles would see some kind of localization. Still, I’d be interested in seeing how an American list stacks up and would like to talk to someone about why Kirby Super Star still hasn’t been put on the 3DS.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
