There’s just some Splatfests that don’t translate well, but even with that in mind the theme for this next Japanese one is universal. Asking if you prefer flowers or dango, a type of dumpling, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s just a simple spring time question.

Really what it’s asking is if you prefer the abstract beauty of the natural world (flowers) or are just turning up to the festival for something material and without deeper meaning (dango). But hey, nothing says you have to take it that deep. Maybe you’re just a squid kid that really loves snackin’?
The Splatfest kicks off in Japan on March 3rd at 3:00 PM JST and goes through March 4th. With some sweet spring colors and a theme I can get into, it’s a shame this one won’t be coming stateside. Still, you can look forward to learning what Japan thinks when this one goes live.
