Did you play Doom on Switch last year and come away wanting more guns ‘n gore? Well, Haemimont Games has you covered with the similarly grisly Victor Vran: Overkill, though the gameplay is decidedly more retro.

Taking cues from the likes of Diablo, players battle through an isometric demon-infested Gothic-fantasy setting as the titular Victor Vran, picking up new loot in the form of weapons and equipment to make subsequent slaughterings more efficient. Even better, you can play the whole thing with a friend in couch co-op or with up to four people online.

The game also has some pretty obvious metal music influences, something made even more apparent by the Motörhead Through the Ages expansion DLC. Both this and the extra Fractured Worlds chapter will be included for free in the Overkill edition.

Switch owners will be able to assume the role of Victor Vran this summer for £34.99 / €39.99 / $39.99.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
