Once again a Nintendo game has been datamined revealing all sorts of intriguing info. This time the news comes via Random Talking Bush on Twitter, who has discovered not only some unused Retro Coin sprites for the Metro Kingdom but also some very intriguing outfit data.
First up lets examine the outfit data…
Something I didn't notice earlier: For the 64, Metal, Gold and Skeleton outfits in Mario Odyssey, there's a bunch of "fix" scripts for the hat positions. However, there's a bunch that don't correspond with anything in-game! pic.twitter.com/NojDlZ7QBa

Random Talking Brush then goes onto highlight the new outfits references while also clarifying certain oddities are otherwise covered.
(Cont'd) In particular, ArmorWestern, Batter, CapCostume, Conductor, Link, Racer, Santa, Satellite, Scholar and Zombie. Hakama and Underwear are odd additions too since there's no hats for those and they have different position/scale values that don't match the default hat's.

Nope, those are all accounted for already. "Shopman" is the Employee outfit, "Bone" is the skeleton suit, and Mechanic is, well, the Mechanic uniform.

This suggests we almost saw outfits based on Link from The Legend of Zelda, Santa Claus, Baseball and even a zombie, which could have been quite gruesome.
As for the retro coins, take a gander:
And unused 2D coins for the Metro Kingdom, apparently, which only come in "collected" form (CoinCollectEmpty2D_E), and don't have a colourized counterpart. pic.twitter.com/bRrMAXmG1V

Hopefully we’ll see some of these elements appear as free DLC down the line as Nintendo has confirmed more outfits are coming after this February’s major update. We’ll be sure to keep you informed!
