Nintendo of Japan has just updated its list of 2017’s best selling eShop games, revealing the top download-only performers both at home and abroad. While portable Minecraft was hard to resist in Japan, nabbing the number one spot, the overseas chart tells a different, more rustic story.

That’s right, despite releasing in October, Chucklefish and ConcernedApe’s indie farming life simulator Stardew Valley is the overseas best selling eShop game of 2017, beating out big name games like Sonic Mania and Snipperclips, not to mention indie mega hits such as Shovel Knight.

Hopefully this means we’ll see even more strong support from indie developers going forward!
