If you’ve played Sonic Forces you’ll no doubt have noticed one major omission – Super Sonic.

In prior games, the glowing yellow powerful transformation is either unlocked through collecting all of the seven Chaos Emeralds or is reserved for a dramatic final boss bout, but in Forces it was simply missing altogether. Thankfully that’s now changed, with Sega releasing a special Super Sonic DLC for free… Though there’s a catch.

While the Super Sonic DLC is free right now, if you don’t snag it before January 23rd you’ll have to pay $1.99 / €1.99 / £1.69. This is already causing some ripples in the community considering Super Sonic has been freely accessible in practically every other game.

We’ll have to wait and see if this is the final piece of DLC for Sonic Forces or if Sega has more in the pipeline.

Whether it’s an exciting new entry in a series long established or a weird experiment meant only for the dedicated, Tom is eager to report on it. Rest assured, if Nintendo ever announces Elite Beat Agents 2, he’ll be there.
