In a few months, visual novel maker 5pb. will be bringing its critically acclaimed Steins;Gate to the Switch in Japan, an “Elite” port which will feature animation from the anime adaptation. Earlier today it was revealed (via Gematsu) that the PS4 version will come with a downloadable HD remaster of the unlocalised spin-off Linear Bounded Phenogram but what Switch owners get is even more intriguing.

Japanese gamers who pick up a first print copy of Steins;Gate Elite for Switch will get a code for “Famicolle ADV Steins;Gate”, a version of the game that takes cues from classic Japan-only adventure games for the Famicom (NES). It looks like it’ll even feature some limited overworld exploration.

We don’t know if it’ll adapt the full game yet but it’s sure to be a fun aside regardless.

Steins;Gate Elite launches in Japan on March 15, 2018. A localization has yet to be announced.
