The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has taken home the trophy for Game of The Year at The Game Awards 2017.

Breath of the Wild was pit against the likes of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Persona 5, Horizon Zero Dawn and even its Nintendo brethren Super Mario Odyssey for the title.

“On behalf of everyone who worked on this game, thank you so very much for this award,” Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma said in his acceptance speech.

“I’m really happy I ended up making games,” added Hidemaro Fujibayashi, Breath of the Wild’s game director. “There were a lot of challenges — it was a big adventure making this game, but I think all those challenges and that adventure really helped develop the staff and it came out in the game, also.”

Nintendo also won a number of other awards, including Best Game Direction and Best Handheld Game.
