While plenty of games have made the leap from Nintendo handhelds to mobile in recent years, from The World Ends With You to Layton’s Mystery Journey, Capcom’s sudden port of Monster Hunter Stories is still quite the surprise. The iOS and Google Play stores have updated with the title in Japan, with the full game costing 1,900 Yen (around $17) with no microtransactions. The first chapter is available as a separate download for those who want to try before they buy.

The port has higher resolution graphics, a tweaked UI and auto-saving. Check out the trailer below to see the improvements in action:

We gave the 3DS version of Monster Hunter Stories a 8.5 out of 10 in our review a few months ago, so if this version does head overseas it’s definitely worth checking out.
