Super Mario Odyssey’s a game I thought I’d already seen everything from, but a new glitch has come to light via the game’s two player mode. Twitter user @NichtSascha captured this moment, which involves tossing Cappy at a Piranha Plant and then using the hat to take out said sharp-toothed vegetation while Mario’s still controlling it. We set out to test the glitch to figure out why Mario is missing, and managed to replicate it after a bit of effort. This can be seen in the video above.

It looks like an easy enough glitch to recover from, just requiring warping away to a checkpoint to bring Mario back. That said, it may offer some interesting adventures all their own once Cappy cuts loose.

When he isn’t writing for Nintendo Wire, Ricky’s anticipating the next Kirby, Fire Emblem, or if the stars ever align, Mother 3 to be released. Till then he’ll have the warm comfort of Super Smash Bros. to keep him going.
