2017 is the 30th anniversary of Final Fantasy and Square Enix is going to close it out with the franchise’s most iconic song – the Main Theme. According to the official site, a Fan Tribute video is going to be put together from various fan submissions, be they music covers, fan art, animations or even dances.

Not only that but Nobuo Uematsu stars in a new video where he discusses the origins of the iconic theme, the gradual development across sound hardware and how the song has affected him as a person. Remember to turn on YouTube’s own subtitle feature, too!

Personally speaking, the Final Fantasy Main Theme is my favorite music track in all of gaming history, with its sweeping melody transporting the listener to a world of adventure and discovery. Seeing it get this much attention and love is definitely a pleasant surprise!

If you’re interested in sending in a tribute be sure to check out the terms and conditions and get to creating!
