Fans of ’80s arcades and competitive high score chasing, rejoice! Amongst the highs and lows of yesterday’s deluge of Direct announcements came the retro reveal that a bunch of Nintendo arcade cabinet classics would be blipping their way to Switch.

Kicking off this latest line in the Arcade Archives series is 1983’s Mario Bros., coming down the pipe in just two weeks time on September 27th. Future games mentioned during the presentation include many in Nintendo’s criminally underrated Vs. series, including Vs. Super Mario Bros., Vs. Balloon Fight, Vs. Ice Climbers, Vs. Pinball and Vs. Clu Clu Land. We even got a brief glimpse of Little Mac sucker punchin’ Glass Joe in the very first Punch Out!

According to Nintendo, these games all contain Joy-Con support for multiplayer mayhem where appropriate, as well as subtle differences you won’t find in their NES counterparts – a painful lesson I learned all too well when naively challenging a Barcade patron to a bout in Punch-Out!! not one month ago. Here’s hoping the good folks over at Hamster – the group of arcade addicts responsible for these ports and known for their unwavering determination to put every Neo Geo game ever released on modern platforms – have a few surprises up their sleeves.
